The story of a wounded combat Veteran turned medical student's road trip around the country to see the land he dedicated eleven and half years of his life to and meet his fellow Americans.
In other news, the Pinto Bean underwent surgery today
We await with baited breath to see how the Bean made out.... Did it pull through?? Is the whole trip falling apart? Does anyone know who REALLY shot JR?? Stay tuned!
Read your story on Bitten & Bound. I thought it was great. You are one of the "amazings". I wish you luck on your trip and donated a bit in honor of the Pinto Bean. I'm a 'beaner', so the name of your suburban made me laugh like a loon. I wish I could have donated more, but here in So Cal..gas is up to $4.22 a gallon for regular, and my 'gator (as I call my dark green Tahoe. Chevy's FTW!!!) just ingests it like air these days.
I'm a 30 y.o now 2nd year medical student at Quillen College of Medicine. I retired from the Army as a Captain after losing my arm in a little "incident" in Afghanistan.
Some people have e-mailed wanting to know my military history, so here's the cliff notes!
Entered the Army in 1995 as an Infantry private. Did my basic/AIT at Ft. Benning, GA before going to Fort Hood. At Hood I was in 2/7 Cav (Garryowen) of the First Cavalry Division. I then did a year in Korea with 1-9 Infantry (Manchu) as part of the 2nd Infantry Division. From there i transitioned to the TN Guard as a medic, completing another AIT as Fort Sam Houston as a 91W (Medic) in 2000. I then went to Officer Candidate School in 2001/2 (Class 45) and comissioned as a 2LT in August of 2002. Flight school followed in 2003 (class 3-18) and I got my wings on April 28th 2004. After Apache school I served as a platoon leater with R Trp 4/278th Cav (Rogues) until April 28th 2006 when I broke my wings. I finally medically retired February 22 2007 at Fort Sam Houston and subsequently began medical school at Quillen College of Medicine in July of 2007. Now i'm coming to a town near you!
If this were a book, would you be interested in it?
